It is staggering to the rest of the world that any senior commanders in any of the USA forces ever thought that this stupidity could ever succeed. At every level it should have been obviously wrong and the whole of NATO member countries tried to tell him. The crisis was entirely created by the failure of the USA to understand the Middle Eastern situation.
But then most of the senior military figures had been replaced because the administration saw competence as less important than loyalty to the dear leader.
Plus some of them even had the temerity to be black or female.
Trump’s version of Putin’s three-day SMO is following the very same pattern of “Shock and Awe” into a multi-year engagement in a War (with a capital W). Worse still, is that I suspect that Iran is better prepared for it.
In Britain no Parliament can bind its successors, meaning that any Parliament can repeal or amend a law passed by a previous Parliament. If that applied in Washington, it would prevent Trump condemning his successors to adopt his nonsense.
Very logical, reasoned analysis of the current US position in Iran: a disaster from the very beginning. The damage to the USA, to the global economy, and to peaceful resolution of disagreements is immense. With Trump in charge, there seems no way out for the US; Americans will suffer, and so will the whole world.

I think you’re right.

And still the GOP, his business and finance supporters, judges, media and military leaders cheer him on. Whilst many of them line their pockets.
The problem is much more than Trump. He ‘let the dogs out’.

…just as putin in Ukraine
